DIVINE WILDERNESS, an original 14″ x 18″ (35.56 x 45.72 cm) oil painting on canvas, came to life as I remembered my adolescent years in the interior of Alaska. I was 14 years old and alone, riding the old steam engine train from Anchorage north to Fairbanks. It is an amazing memory.
This is an unusual painting just as the wilderness that it portrays. Most people, especially the youth of today, have no concept of the reality of living among bears, muskrat, wolves, moose, fox and the other animals I saw quite often. We had no technology, not even a phone in the house, no indoor plumbing, yet my brothers and I delivered newspapers many days in temperatures well below zero.
Painted in 2010, this painting has been museum sealed and copyrighted for authenticity. It is framed, backed, ready to hang with appropriate hardware to be enjoyed for many years to come.
